The ylang ylang tree grows in the Philippines and Malaysia, and the pretty custard-yellow flowers look a bit like a lily hanging downward. The scent of the oil can be described as a bit like neroli, floral, jasmine, custard, honey, and spice. A dear friend from the Philippines told me that traditionally, women in his culture would create leis of flowers for their beloved men and add the ylang ylang flower hanging down in the center as an aphrodisiac.
