Creative Fun for Kids!

July opportunities for kids to create!

Wow! The summer is moving on quickly - there is so much to do and so little time!

One of the things I like most to do is to create with kids. They have so much enthusiasm for the world around them and they love to explore and make things. This summer I am very into making chalk - a fun kid-thing, right? - and there are several opportunities in the next few weeks for kids to play with chalk in a number of ways. Who doesn't like to mess around drawing on sidewalks?

Wednesday, July 18: At the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, WI: A day camp exploring the science of chalk and chalk making. We'll make white chalk and colored chalk. We'll make chalk paint and exploding and fizzing chalk. We'll draw all over the Museum's sidewalks. We'll print on paper with floating chalk. In other words, we'll get chalky. And dusty. And dirty. And have fun! Here's more about that!

Friday, July 27: Camp Create at Xpressions Beads 'n Yarn (see poster below) in downtown West Bend.... you guessed it!... kids can make chalk as part of the day camp, then have lunch and do wool felting projects in the afternoon with Kathryn from Thorntree Pass .

As part of the Museum's second annual Art & Chalk Fest on July 28 & 29, kids will also have the opportunity to make a Chunk of Chalk (don't you love it?) at the West Bend Farmers' Market on July 28 from 7:30-11AM - as long as the plaster of Paris lasts!
